1982年生まれ。慶應義塾大学卒業後、（株）博報堂で５年間の会社員生活を過ごす。退職後、東京芸術大学大学院映像研究科を経て、コンテンツ企画制作会社コトプロダクションを設立。リアリティを最優先にする独自のスタイルで、映画、TVCM、PV、ドラマ、ドキュメンタリーなどの制作を行う。元大学准教授。

2018年、クリスマスイブ、早朝、羽田空港。ロサンゼルしから到着したばかりのMattに我々は「Where is TOKYO？」と尋ねた。すると彼は自分もそれが知りたいと返答してきた。彼は、日本人の彼女と空港で待ち合わせの予定だったらしいが、到着すると彼女の姿はなく困惑していた。彼女からは「今夜20:30にTokyoで会おう」とだけメッセージが届いていたらしい…

１．この映画を撮ったきっかけはなんですか？
アイコニックな場所として紹介される「TOKYO」に違和感を持ったことです。。僕にとっての「TOKYO」と誰かにとっての「TOKYO」は違うし、またそれは変化するものであるはずなのに。試しに何人かに「Where is TOKYO？」とインタビューをしたところ、具体的な地名＝具体をあげる人、抽象的なことをいう人、がいますが、後者の方が圧倒的に多かったです。それが本作を作ったきっかけです。
２．影響を受けた作品・監督はいますか
幼少期にドラえもん のび太の宇宙小戦争を見て映像を撮ることに興味を持ち、真似をしてプラモデルを動かして親戚からビデオカメラを借りて撮影しました。
３．普段どんな時にアイディアが生まれますか
あまり意識したことがありません。一生懸命考えた時です。
４．作品へのこだわりがあれば教えてください
映画であるという嘘以外の嘘をなるべく排除することを意識しています。
５．今回の作品で一番苦労した点を教えてください
主演のマットと空港で初めて会ったのですが、彼には僕らの顔などは一切教えず本当に知らない人にいきなり話しかけらる設定にしたので、ちゃんと会えるか少し冷や冷やしました。
６．今後どのような作品を作っていきたいですか
今後もモキュメンタリー作品を作っていきたいです。
７．撮影現場について、スタッフ・キャストとのコミュニケーションはどのようにとっていますか。
指示はせず、意図や理由を丁寧に話すように心がけています。
８．壁にぶつかった時の乗り越え方を教えてください
特にないです。とりあえず頑張る。
